Dinner and a friendship.

So, it’s the last day of Chinese New Year, and Mom prepared this big ole dinner. I asked her if anyone was joining us. No – no?! I thought the Toastmasters were coming. What?! I should’ve invited MY friends! No, you said we were just going to eat it all by ourselves. You DID. The other night when I asked you!

We had a little disagreement on whether or not she told me to invite someone.

It was 7.30pm. I was just leaving to pick Shuan and Han up from gymnastics. Too late anyway! Argh!!!

So I went to the car and was about to get in – and then just in the spur of the moment I just went back into the house, looked up the number and called a friend. Pulled her out of the shower too, I think. loL.

She hadn’t eaten yet – HALELUJAH! It took some persuasion, but we ended up having company for dinner an hour later.

After that, we just talked and talked and talked some more. We talked about how her brain is degenerating, and boyfriends and breakups (her last boyfriend was my MAJOR crush from the time I was 12 –16) and what callings she had in church, and siblings and high school, and being single, sick guys, molestation, cranky old ladies, zits (I’m going to try tea tree oil now)…

By the time she finally drove for home, it was midnight. Wow. What a night.

You know, I don’t have many friends to choose from here, but given a campus full of other girls, I would’ve picked her out anyway.

Lyanne, all I can say is - it was great to have a sister again.
