Each life that touches ours for good.

Each life that touches ours for good
Reflects thine own great mercy, Lord;
Thou sendest blessings from above
Thru words and deeds of those who love.

What greater gift dost thou bestow,
What greater goodness can we know
Than Christ-like friends, whose gentle ways
Strengthen our faith, enrich our days.

When such a friend from us departs,
We hold forever in our hearts
A sweet and hallowed memory,
Bringing us nearer, Lord, to thee.

For worthy friends whose lives proclaim
Devotion to the Savior's name,
Who bless our days with peace and love,
We praise thy goodness, Lord above.

- Karen Lynn Davidson (Hymn 293)

I just received news that Sister Majorie Pay Hinckley, the wife to our beloved prophet has passed away.

Apparently, President Hinckley had mentioned her health at the last general conference during his closing remarks. At first I was wondering why I hadn't noticed it before, and then I remembered that they only just had general conference. We don't get to watch it here till a couple of months later on VHS. So in essence, we don't really notice when the rest of the world is preparing to hear the prophet speak. Talk about a time difference.

Although I never had the pleasure of meeting Sister Hinckley, I know that I'm not the only one who is feeling an immense ammount of grief and loss.

I feel like I felt when my maternal grandparents passed away. I never got close to them, but because I knew how much they meant to my mother, it was Mom's pain that I cried for.

Likewise, my heart goes out to Pres. Hinckley whom we all love so dearly. Things are not going to be quite the same for him from henceforth.

April 6th (Standard Mormon Time, that is). Am I the only one who finds the date strangely appropriate?

In honor of Sister Hinckley, I'm dedicating a moment of silence to her. (Any posts will be either saved for tomorrow or published with an earlier time).

"But there is a a resurrection, therefore the grave hath no victory, and the sting of death is swallowed up in Christ."
