Pysch 411: Relative deprivation

The perception that one is worse off relative to those with whom one compares oneself.

Nothing new. We all know that we are dissatisfied with our lives because we compare it with people better than us.

This explains why I have felt so much more lonely since I found out Su has a boyfriend. And I hate being here when I hear about all the stuff she is doing in Hawaii.

At the same time, it explains also why I love to read other people's blogs and find it comforting to know that there are people who face worse problems than I do.
