Time for an update.

I'll warn you ahead of time - there's nothing you'll be too interested in reading about here. I just needed to write some things down for the sake of writing.

It's been a busy couple of weeks, hence the dead silence on this blog. Alot has happened since my birthday. Finals week, exams, goodbyes, work, games, games and more games.

Spring finally ended and we started the Summer term just last Monday which means 38 hours of work a week. I work 11-6.35 (or so) 5 days a week with a rotating off-day. I was really worried about getting burnt out too fast at first (I really love my job and am terrified that I will change my mind) but things have been going fine so far.

It's a little bit of a bummer to have Friday night not be any different from any other night because I have to work like every other day the next morning, but I can't complain. I am not taking any classes right now and am enjoying every moment of it.

Mark and I have built somewhat of a base of friends for the Summer. I have to say that as far as social life goes, this is much better than Spring by at least 10 fold. Mostly because we are consciously trying harder to save each other from boredom and loneliness and also because it usually takes about 2 months to settle into a social group.

We get together every evening, play games (we played Pictionary and Hearts tonight, on others we played Malarky, Taboo, Mao, Phase 10 and Jenga - at the same time - and whatever other card game we could think of), watch movies, walk to Chevron after midnight, talk and have a good time.

Su and I asked for the same work schedule so that we could spend our days off together. Last Tuesday Mark and I went to town with Reed and dropped Su off for gymnastics on the way. We went to Pearl Ridge Mall and went window shopping and ate at Papa John's. Yummy. On the way home, at about 9pm, we drove past a bus stop and I thought I saw a familiar figure so we turned back, and sure enough, it was Su. We had some leftover pizza with us. It was perfect timing. Very scarily so. She had just gotten there 10 minutes ago.

Su says that things like that always happen to her. It's pretty awesome in a freaky way if you ask me.

The group of friends we have formed are made up of Mark, Su, Reed, Rachael and I. We're the core. Sometimes, Scott will join us (always with his Apple laptop) with his Hong Kong friend, Johnny, or Zui will pop by. It's sort of a challenge for me to always have fun. We're quite a diverse group and we don't always have that synergy going for us. Some nights, we just have more fun than others. I haven't figured out why yet. I love the new old friends that I have made though.

I met Reed and Rachael when I first got here. Separately. I had no idea we ran in very similar circles. I met Reed through Jared, and at that point had only seen Reed with Jared. We'd make some small talk here and there when we ran into each other but he was more an associate than a friend. Likewise with Rachael. I'd seen her around. I knew she'd be staying for Summer so I said that I'd be sticking with her so we'd have someone to do things with but we never really "hung out" except for the occasional meal together at the Caf.

I think it was my birthday that brought it all together. I kind of look at the people who were there as an automatic addition to my friends list. Some people surprised me, like Carrera (who is home on Maui now *sniffle* - I'm going through withdrawals), Megan, Laurie, Christina, and Reed.

Right now, I think Reed is the awesomest guy in the world - next to Mark, of course. He is almost exactly like Garfield but in an evil genius sort of way - like Pinky and the Brain. His two most favorite shows. He also loves Invader Zim and lately sacrificed a ton of sleep for the episode after episode from 2nd season of Dawson's Creek. He amuses me. Take my bad sleeping habbits and increase it by 100 times. That's Reed. We bonded over Moullin Rouge and The Hours and now completely trust his opinion when it comes to good books, movies (unless comedy is involved - I get picky) and candy. I have said this over and over and over but I need to write it down for the record. Reed is cool because he's agreeable, easy going and too much like me, but also because he treated Mark and I as friends from the very start.

When I first came to school, I met most people through Jared and was mostly known as his ex-girlfriend. Some people like Jesscia never warmed up to me. Others like Jake were pretty cool with me but took Jared's side when it came to Mark. Not hostile, really, but not really friendly either. We really felt like outcasts for most of the Spring.

Reed was nice though, he would always stop to have a friendly conversation with Mark and I, and I remember the day he got his new shoes - Doc Martins or something or the other - and he was so excited with them, he came over to us at the salad bar in the caf just to share his good fortune with us. What a silly little thing that I found a very nice gesture, nontheless. Maybe I was so desperate for any kind of acceptance that I jumped at that the way I did.

With Rachael, it was the same way. I think I met her through Mark though. Still, it was always cool to have her wave for us to sit with her in the cafeteria when we'd run into her there. Rachael's awesome. She has this undying enthusiasm and is always up for fun - I love that. She spent the last couple of evenings with her aunt who was visiting Hawaii and it was so much less exciting. It was good to have her back today.

Summer has been fun so far, I thought I would be bored and lonely but it has been proved to be quite the opposite. I've seen so much more of my sister and I love it. I don't have to be up before 10 on any day of the week - it's wonderful! Unfortunately, Rachael and Reed are taking classes in the summer. I know at some point they will get busier and we won't be able to do things together ALL the time. (Although I really doubt that Reed will do homework over hanging out - or even do homework at all, hehehe)

It doesn't matter. I'm just excited to share friends with Mark right now, as pathetic as it sounds. We've finally found a group where we both belong to. It's small, I know, and may only last through summer, but at this point, I'm just really, really, thankful.

So yeah. That was the most boring blog ever written, but I had to write something down for the record. Summer isn't going to be too interesting. I hardly spend any time at all in my room. My roommate moved out, and I have the room to myself. Jared's computer is still on the empty bed, my laundry is all over the place.

Maybe I'll do laundry and clean up tomorrow.

But then again, that's what I say everyday.
