Let down.
Thank you very much for your time and effort in auditioning for
"Midsummer Night's Dream." We regret to say at this time we won't be
able to use you but we hope that you will audition for our next
show.
Well, at least they saved us the agony of waiting.

Pride issues - they suck. Possibly worse than missing out on the chance to improve at acting and be part of a production is being clumped with the handfull of lousy actors I got to watch audition.
But yeah. I think I can live with that. Movies are good for my ego.

Worse than being upset about that, is being upset at myself for being upset at such a silly little insignificant thing.
It's strange, those things we invest our happiness in. I should know better.

Sorry to hear that. It really is a tough feeling. Because beyond all explaining away or good humor is the feeling of rejection. In any context, it's a toughy. Being picked last for schoolyard football. Not getting an invitation to the birthday party. Those are hard--but such rejection seems more based on popularity sometimes.
A play, on the other hand may be a rejection that makes you feel not good enough. I was on the brink of tears when I didn't get the lead in the Music Man, in 7th grade. Felt personally devalued. Those are the worst. They strike an even deeper chord--not at techne or acceptance, but worth.
